Legbar Background
The Cream Legbar is a distinctive British chicken breed best known for its blue egg production and auto-sexing trait, which allows chicks to be identified by color at hatch. Developed in the early 20th century, this hardy and adaptable breed performs well in a variety of climates. Cream Legbars are valued not only for their productivity, but also for their active disposition, unique plumage, and engaging personalities. Cream Legbars were first introduced to the public at the London Dairy Show in 1947 and were later granted a written breed standard by the Poultry Club of Great Britain in 1958. The breed was imported into the United States in 2010, where it has continued to gain popularity among poultry enthusiasts and small-scale producers.
